Dick was a South Carolina artist, author, naturalist, photographer, world traveler, and conservationist. A native of New York, Dick moved to South Carolina in 1947 and made his home at Dixie Plantation (now Stono Preserve) near Meggett, SC. He contributed illustrations to numerous books on birds and natural history through his career.
