Reproduction of a watercolor by Langdon Cheves that was done on wallpaper, most likely during the Civil War, when there was a paper shortage. The floral pattern of the wallpaper shows through on the reverse, painted sides of original watercolor, creating an unusual honeycomb effect that fails to detract from the beauty of Cheves’s work. Printed on matte paper.
12” x 9”. Not framed. Reproduction. Print only.
Printed in the lower left-corner "Langdon Cheves. From the collections of the South Carolina Historical Society. 2023"
